Maintaining and testing the integrity of the thin sheath covering the fiber optic bundle of the scope is crucial in the prevention of nosocomial infections as well as for the prevention of damage to the equipment. There are two components in in this test protocol; Dry test and Wet test. The performance of the dry test prior to the immersion of the scope in the disinfectant solution can prevent further damage to the scope in case the sheath is compromised
